“SOME-Tech” -(Society Of MECHATRONICS Engineering & Technology) is one of the most reputed Technical Society in M.M. Engineering College, Mullana and known for its excellent record in academic and co-curricular activities. The state of the art facilities and competent faculty provide an excellent climate for the all-round development of the students.
As a part of the curriculum, the students are required to undertake industrial visit to a few industries of repute. We feel it will be fruitful that the students with academic background have a glimpse of the industry in order to have a better appreciation of practical applications of theory.
Once again “SOME-Tech“conducted an INDUSTRIAL VISIT for students of MECHANICAL & ELECTRICAL Engineering students on receiving the letter of permission from PANIPAT THERMAL POWER STATION, PANIPAT (PTPS-I, HPGCL). A Batch of 45 Students from both Mechanical & Electrical Engg. with 3 faculty members went on an industrial visit to PANIPAT THERMAL POWER STATION, PANIPAT (HARYANA) on 11 March 2014.
Officers from Unit 7 & 8 received us at the entrance and gave a brief introduction of the Plant. They divide us in two groups. Then they took us from one section to the next and explained the process involved in the production of 220KV ELECTRICITY. They showed how steems are used to rotates large Turbines and Boilers etc. A few engineers were also employed to do certain repetitive minor operations by using PLC & SCADA softwares in the Control Room of Unit 7 & 8. Our students asks many questions & queries from them, they gave good and interesting answer to them. At last we went to SWITCHYARD of Unit 5 & 6, where we know how the produced electricity is distributed to cities and villages.
It was an informative, interesting and a successful visit. They appreciated our keen interest and the knowledge of the students about the production technology.
As students of ENGINEERING, we learned a few mechanical, electronics application and electrical techniques. We express our thanks to our Principal Dr. J.K. Sharma and HEAD OF DEPARTMENT (HOD) Prof. N.K. Batra who permitted us to go on the visit, the faculty members (Mr. Jagpal, Er. Jastinder Singh and Er. Arvind) who accompanied us and the officials who exlpained the varoius departments.
This INDUSTRIAL VISIT adds one more milestone to “SOME-Tech” journey.
