With neat sketch explain the operation of direct acting type pressure reducing valve with spring loaded spool to control the outlet pressure when the outlet pressure is above and below the valve setting pressure?

Pressure reducing valve Pressure reducing valves are used to get desired pressures in hydraulic system. These are normally open, 2 way valves that close when

Subjected to outlet pressure above valve setting pressure.

— A pressure reducing valve limits the max. Pressure available in the secondary circuit regardless of pressure changes in main circuit.

                             Fig. Pressure reducing valve

-This valve consists of valve spool, which is free to slide in the cylinder bore.

-If the outlet pressure is above the valve setting pressure then the valve spool will shift towards right thereby reducing pressure at outlet and similarly if the outlet pressure is less than valve setting pressure then the spool will shift towards right.

-The movement of spool is controlled by pressure sensing signal comes from downstream side and spring pressure. (or valve setting pressure).

-This valve operates in reverse fashion from a relief valve.
